Different levels of abstraction show how forms can be simplified or schematised.

Signs of Spring

Our recent cold March days have delayed spring just a bit, so we have some dark skies as well as colourful signs of spring.

Many pictures have been started at art group and will be completed back at home. The artist's progression can be seen.

Working from sketch books with drawings made

'en plein air" enables the composition and detail seen with the eye rather than the camera lens.

Plenty of wonderful landscapes and Northumberland scenes to challenge the artist in creating an illusion of perspective using line, colour and atmosphere.

Spring flowers in situ and as botanical paintings.

Bringing in your own props and painting directly onto the paper without previous drawings brings spontaneity to the picture.
